Thanks to all of the 23 (+?) people who joined in our first AK Archivists organizational meeting on October 10.
We introduced ourselves, discussed topics for future meetings, talked a little about scheduling, and Jo Antonson told us more about the Alaska Historical Society’s proposed resolution to the Alaska Legislature on behalf of many archives and Alaskana collections that are in crisis right now. (More details on that will be forthcoming as we get them.)
We also had a conversation about a potential survey to gauge how many institutions in Alaska have archival collections. Thanks to Sara P and Karen G for expressing an interest in moving forward on that. If you’d be interested in participating in developing a survey, please use the contact form linked above (in the menu link, for those of you on mobile devices) and we’ll get you pointed at that effort.
If I (Arlene) have skipped anything that should be included in this recap, please feel free to add a comment!
