Karen G of the State Archives was kind enough to forward on the links she shared in the meeting plus some additional information. If anybody has any others–either informational or places/orgs to contact to support actions happening in response to the NARA-Seattle move–please add them in the comments.
Washington State Archives: NARA Seattle Closure Information
NARA Seattle: Alaska Digitization project
Following are some organizations who have ongoing advocacy efforts related to the NARA Seattle closure:
- Alaska Historical Society
- Council of State Archivists/Society of American Archivists
- American Library Association
- National Coalition for History
- Museums Alaska
As was mentioned in the meeting, one of the best ways to have your voice heard on this subject is to contact our Congressional delegation. NARA and OMB are federal agencies and Congress is responsible for their budgets.
In addition, in a report from Northwest Archivists, Washington Representative Pramila Jayapal is another member of Congress working to delay the process. You may want to contact her office as well.
